Corrective surgery is necessary when jaws do not align correctly and/or teeth do not fit comfortably in the jaw. In addition to ensuring that teeth function properly, jaw surgery can also improve facial
appearance. Misalignment of the jaw can result in a variety of different issues that affect your long-term oral health, including:

  • difficulty chewing, biting, or swallowing
  • speech problems
  • breathing problems
  • protruding jaw
  • chronic jaw or TMJ pain
  • open bite

These symptoms may occur as a result of hereditary influences or outside facial trauma, or can even exist at birth. Before your surgery, you will have a 15 minute consultation where you and Dr. Hoffman will
decide on the best course of treatment going forward. After discussing your best option at the initial examination, you’ll be able to schedule your surgery.
